Informations about Tec3270 Version 3 new features and improvements.
New Features:
TELNET Server secured connections, using cryptographed SSL/TLS sessions:
Beginning this version, secured TELNET sessions are available, by using SSL protocol versions 2 or 3 (SSLV2/SSLV3)
or TLS protocol version 1 (TLS/V1), if one of them is required from TELNET server.
Tec3270 also supports secured cryptographed sessions where Digital Client Certificates are required.
Server and Client Digital Certificates Managing:
For storing digital certificates required from secured TELNET sessions, Tec3270 now includes an whole procedure for
digital certificates administration, through an dialog similar to those implemented by the browsers that can establish
secured internet site sessions.
This dialog allows the user to import, export, remove and exhibit server and client digital certificates, also supporting
Certificates Revoked Lists (CRL) (in this case only CRLs importing is allowed for using on certificate validation).
Revoked Certificates List checking at the moment of connection establishment:
Digital Certificates revocation check is now available allowing on line verification or use of imported CRLs in this
procedure. This permits that any digital certificate revoked from Certificate Authority be rejected at the session
establishment. This option, as the related certificate validation, may be activated by suboption "Options" from Tec3270
"Security" menu item.
Remote Printers (LU1 or LU3):
The defined TELNET session may configured to have an remote printer through TN3270E standard.
There is a choice of automatically connect an terminal associated printer or using an specific "Netname".
HLLAPI Interface for Windows:
The Windows HLLAPI defines an standard and consistent API IBM EHLLAPI implementation for 16 and 32 bits versions
of Windows.
Using this interface, any program may simulate an automatic operator, sending text and function keys and receiving
the connected server responses (through the terminal screen buffer).
For detailed descriptions, see
WinHLLAPI.
Improvements:
New session configuration dialog:
The Session Configuration Dialog now includes cryptograph options and an new Remote Printer configuration subdialog.
New "Status Bar" layout
Status bar now shows Remote Printer status and secured connections flag (an little padlock).
Left clicking the mouse on remote printer status icon, shows the Remote Printer window that graphically presents its connection
to the TELNET server and with the local printer.
All special keys indicators (INS, Caps Lock, Num Lock) were also redesigned.
The Insert Key status and the clock time are now integrated on "Status Bar".
New Menu item "Security"
An new menu item, "Security", was added to Tec3270 Menu. It contains the subitem "Server Certificate" that shows
the TELNET server digital certificate, when secured sessions have been established, the subitem "Cryptography Informations"
that presents all used cryptographic characteristics (like method, key size, etc...), the subitem
"Certificate Admin" that shows Certificates Administration Dialog, and the subitem
"Security Options" that shows an dialog where you can choose if the certificate verification is desired, if the certificate
revocation verification (server and clients digital certificates) should be done, and finally choose the cryptographic method to be used
on secured sessions required by the server through TLS protocol(TLSV1 or SSLV3 may be choosed).
New Tec3270 Help
As already could be seen, the Tec3270 Help is now based on HTML.
New 3270 cursor format options
The 3270 cursor now has the options of being extended to the bottom and top 3270 screen margins,
as far as to the left and right 3270 screen margins.
